BLUEFIELD —
A suspect in the murder of a Raleigh County resident was awaiting arraignment Friday after being arrested in Bluefield.
Dwayne Lane, 22, of Beckley was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. Friday on Ohio Street in Bluefield, said Sgt. D.W. Miller of the West Virginia State Police detachment in Princeton. Lane was wanted along with two other subjects in the Sept. 29 murder of Beckley resident Shawn Rucker.
“The other two were previously arrested in the last day or two,” Miller said. “And we arrested the third one today in Mercer County.”
Miller said that he and Sgt. C.K. McKenzie arrested Lane after receiving an anonymous tip. The Beckley Police Department is conducting the murder investigation.
Lane is scheduled for arraignment locally because he was arrested in Mercer County. He is facing a charge of first-degree murder, Miller said. After an initial court appearance, Lane will be sent back to Raleigh County.
“We will try to arraign him today,” Miller said Friday afternoon. “If not, he will be arraigned tonight. We will hold him for the time being, and then he will be taken to the regional jail or to the Beckley PD (police department); one of the two, depending on when we can get him arraigned.”
