AFTERNOON UPDATE - Lilly family hopes to set record

FLAT TOP — The long-running Lilly Family Reunion that starts Friday at 5:30 p.m., hopes to set a new record in terms of family members attending the three-day fete that was first held in 1930, and has been held annually since the end of World War II.

Chad Meador, an aspiring actor and film maker from Flat Top, spent the past year arranging for a representative of the Guinness Book of World’s Records to attend the event and determine if the Lilly Reunion is the largest gathering of people from the same family in the world. The fun starts on Friday and will run through Sunday.
