AFTERNOON UPDATE: Region could see accumulating snow again this week

BLUEFIELD — After several days of nice weather, snow is once again back in the region’s forecast.

A chance of rain and snow is expected Wednesday ahead of a stronger system that could bring accumulating snowfall to the Bluefield area Wednesday night into Thursday.

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., a prolonged period of northwest winds Wednesday through the end of the week will bring upslope snow showers to west facing slopes and higher elevations producing several inches of snow accumulation.
