PRINCETON —
Police are still investigating a motive behind a bizarre attack in Princeton where a suspect allegedly slit the throat of his neighbor and tied him to a toilet with an electrical cord.
Roy Lee Williams, 41, of Princeton, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, malicious wounding and armed robbery, according to Trooper D.C. Graham of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment.
The victim, a 67-year-old male, was still hospitalized Monday recovering from injuries sustained in the attack.
“He is still receiving medical treatment,” Graham said. “He’s still in the hospital. At this time they have him stabilized.”
Graham said a motive for the attack remains under investigation.
The victim was found bound to a toilet with an electrical cord inside of a residence on LJ Street in Princeton, a state police official confirmed. His throat had been slit. When troopers arrived on the scene, they found an excessive amount of blood in the bathroom and in other parts of the house.
“The kidnapping charge is that he was bound with an electrical cord,” Graham said. “That is how he received some of his injuries.”
Graham said the accused and the victim knew each other. Graham said the suspect allegedly used a knife to slit the throat of the victim. He said the incident stemmed from “a discussion” between the two men. However, an actual motive for the attack remains under investigation.
Williams was arraigned on the charges over the weekend. He remains incarcerated at the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver awaiting a preliminary hearing and bond hearing. Graham said a preliminary hearing in the case should be scheduled within a week.
