PRINCETON —
The demolition of a historic Princeton home is on hold pending a thorough review by a Mercer County Circuit Court judge.
Judge William Sadler ordered a delay in the demolition of the Judge Johnson House on Mercer Street in Princeton.
“This may be a moot issue if the house is not structurally sound,” Sadler said. “The court feels a structure that has been in place that many years should at least be looked at before any decisions are made.”
Sadler asked all parties involved to see if they could mediate a settlement that would be pleasing to the Mercer County Historical Society, the property owners and the city of Princeton.
An injunction to halt plans to tear down the house was granted on Jan. 31.
