BLUEFIELD —
Members of the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force along with officers of the Bluefield Police Department arrested a suspect after executing a search warrant at his residence, according to Interim Police Chief D.M. “Dennis” Dillow.
“Our officers worked with the Task Force to execute a search warrant at a residence located at 309 Rogers Street,” Dillow said.
“Officers recovered narcotics, firearms and cash, and arrested Everett Ray Gillespie,” Dillow said. “His arrest came as a result of an on-going investigation by the Task Force. Of course, one of our officers also serves on the task force.”
The combined officers of the city police and task force seized an amount of opiate prescription pills, an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency and four loaded firearms.
Gillespie, 62, appeared before Mercer County Magistrate Susan Dorsey on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Dorsey set Gillespie’s bond at $25,000.
“He was arraigned and released to his home. Mr. Gillespie has a medical condition,” Dillow said.
