RICHLANDS, Va. —
Minor flooding has been reported across the region this morning.
A spokesperson with the Richlands, Va. Police Department said there was some flooding issues on River Road and on Third Street in front of the Magic Mart store in the town.
Officials with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office reported local rivers have not crested but are nearing flooding levels and there have been reports of trees downed throughout the area. There was also a small rockslide in the Garden Creek area, but the issue had been taken care of.
In Giles County, dispatchers with the Giles County Sheriff’s Office reported flooding issues on the western end of the county primarily in the Narrows, Va. area.
A flash flood watch for the region expires this afternoon. A winter storm watch begins Thursday morning. Up to six inches of heavy snow is possible Thursday, according to forecasters.
