KIMBALL —
Three individuals were arrested after they were allegedly caught stealing copper cables at a McDowell County coal mine.
Two adult males and one male juvenile were arrested at the Pay Car Mine near Kimball soon after troopers with the West Virginia State Police detachment in Welch arrived on the scene.
“Upon our arrival, they fled on foot,” said Trooper J.R. Coburn. Coburn, Trooper J.C. Mann and Trooper J.K. Weiss pursued the suspects. “We were able to catch up to them and make the arrests.”
The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, Coburn said.
Justin Bolen, 19, and Glenn Mitchem, 24, both of McDowell County, were arrested, Coburn said. They were being held at the McDowell County Jail pending their arraignment. The male juvenile was released to his parents, and felony charges were pending.
