Police: Man injured after walking into path of moving truck

PRINCETON — A Mercer County man was treated and released after being transported from a pedestrian versus vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in the 800 block of Mercer Street in downtown Princeton.

The injured man, described as being from Princeton and in his late 30s, was crossing Mercer Street from the Princeton Town Square and headed in the direction of Jimmy’s Restaurant at about 1:40 p.m., when he walked into the path of a Ford pickup truck, according to Officer D.R. Murray of the Princeton Police Department.

“The Princeton Rescue Squad took him to Princeton Community Hospital and got him checked out,” Murray said. “He was all right and he was released.”

Murray said there wasn’t any need for additional investigation because the injured man appeared to be intoxicated, and walked out into the truck from between two parked cars.

“He was jay-walking,” Murray said.
