Two men taken into custody in road rage, shots fired incident

One man was taken into custody when he walked out of the woods late Thursday night and another was caught early this morning in connection with a road rage/shots fired incident on Airport Road.

Mercer County Sheriff’s deputies detained Mack Hughes, 31, of Brushfork at about 9 p.m., Thursday night at the Go Mart in Green Valley, and caught Shane Hartwell, age unavailable, at a residence this morning, according to Detective Cpl. L.B. Murphy of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

“Criminal charges are pending at this time,” Murphy said. The incident started shortly before 2 p.m., when a the driver of a silver Cadillac ran a maroon Dodge Stratus off Route 123 near the former Airport Tavern.
