TAZEWELL, Va. —
Tazewell County’s superintendent of schools has announced her plans to retire next year after doing everything from supervising the entire school system to driving the school buses.
Superintendent Brenda Lawson read a letter this week to the Tazewell County Board of Education announcing her retirement in June 2013. At that time, she will conclude a 41-year career with the county school system.
“I’ve been blessed to serve in various capacities,” Lawson said Wednesday to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. “My first job was as an instructional aide, and then I served during the summer as a school secretary.”
