Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a weekend drug bust in McDowell County.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Department working in conjunction with the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant Friday at a residence in the Warriormine area of War. During the search of the residence, prescription drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash was seized, according to McDowell County Sheriff Martin B. West.
West said Joseph Morefield and Debra Walker Morefield, both of War, were both charged with possession with intent to distribute a scheduled III controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV controlled substance and felony conspiracy.
The investigation into the incident continues.
Both subjects are being held in the McDowell County Holding unit on a $50,000 dollar bond, acccording to sheriff’s office field supervisor James Muncy.
