BLUEFIELD —
One person was killed Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash on Bluefield Avenue.
The crash was reported to Mercer County 911 at approximately 7:12 a.m. First responders were on the scene two minutes later, according to a dispatcher with the Bluefield Police Department.
One fatality, a driver who was a 40-year-old male Bluefield resident, was reported. His name was being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. One other person was involved, but whether that person was injured was not available.
Patrolman M.L. Ramsey of the Bluefield Police Department is investigating. Ramsey, who had worked the midnight shift, was not available for additional comment Tuesday. He was assisted by Patrolman R.D. Davis and Patrolman J.W. Murray Jr., according to the dispatcher.
The Bluefield Fire Department and the Bluefield,Va. Fire Department were also dispatched to the crash scene. The Bluefield, W.Va. and Bluefield, Va. rescue squads responded.

The trial of Earl Click, the man who was charged along with his sister, Rebecca Lynn Hatcher, with the July 17, 2012 murder of Dr. Thomas Hatcher, mayor of War, has been continued according to the McDowell County prosecuting attorney’s office. The trial had been scheduled to start on Monday.
