GRUNDY, Va. —
A car accident has claimed the life of a Buchanan County man who had previously been reported missing by his family.
Officers with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle over an embankment in the Council area of the county at 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening, according to Sheriff Ray Foster. Inside the vehicle, emergency personnel discovered the body of Tony Douglas Owens, 47, of Prater, Va., who had been reported missing earlier that afternoon by family members, Foster said.
Owens was pronounced dead at the scene and no foul play is suspected. The Virginia State Police is handling the investigation into the accident.
