WELCH —
The chair of the governance board of Reconnecting McDowell traveled to Welch today to help spread the word about the free Broadband Computer Center in the WorkForce West Virginia Office in downtown Welch. Gayle Manchin, former West Virginia first lady was in Welch to help announce the new service.
“I was able to talk with someone in Washington, D.C., on Skype,” Welch Mayor Reba Honaker said of the event. “Gayle Manchin spoke with him too. She said that children in West Virginia deserve the same access as children in cities throughout the U.S.”
The WorkForce office in Welch will make the service available to visitors from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2-6:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
