TAZEWELL, Va. —
Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine is receiving some unexpected help from a West Virginia ally in his bid to win a seat in the U.S. Senate.
U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will campaign along side Kaine today in Tazewell County. Manchin and Kaine, the former governors of West Virginia and Virginia, are scheduled to appear at Pyott-Boone Electronics in North Tazewell today at 4:15 p.m. The company is a leading manufacturer of mine safety, productivity and communications equipment. Kaine will be joined by Manchin at the event in discussing his support for a comprehensive energy plan that includes all domestic sources, including coal, natural gas and oil, according to Kaine’s campaign.
Both Kaine and former Virginia Gov. George Allen are vying for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va. Webb isn’t seeking re-election.
Allen is scheduled to be in Tazewell County on Friday at the V&V Restaurant in Richlands for a meet and greet session at noon, according to Delegate James W. “Will” Morefield, R-Tazewell.
