TAZEWELL, Va. — After surviving “months and months” or abuse and neglect, a four-year-old quarter horse was rescued by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office Code Enforcement detachment on Wednesday, and is now convalescing in the stable at the Tazewell County Fairground. Code Enforcement Deputy LeRoy Long said the veterinarian believes the horse’s prognosis is good.

War mayor’s death: Click trial continued
The trial of Earl Click, the man who was charged along with his sister, Rebecca Lynn Hatcher, with the July 17, 2012 murder of Dr. Thomas Hatcher, mayor of War, has been continued according to the McDowell County prosecuting attorney’s office. The trial had been scheduled to start on Monday.
