BECKLEY — A Mercer County man who moved from Illinois into the Mercer County area earlier this year and challenged the federal sex offender registry requirements, pleaded guilty to one count of the federal indictment against him Thursday at U.S. District Court in Beckley.
Keith Eugene Nelson, 45, of Bluefield pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to register as a sex offender. Nelson�s plea was one of five guilty pleas entered at separate hearings in Beckley on Thursday before U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston of the Southern District of West Virginia.
