In St. Paul’s first letter to Timothy, KJV, I Timothy 6:10, he told Timothy, the love of money is the root of all evil.”
When I read the paper or see the news on TV, I am reminded of that truth, everything has to have a dollar value placed on it.
When the police destroy a marijuana patch, they always have to tell what the street value is of what they destroyed, and that, it seems to me, is an incentive for anyone who will take the risk to plant a larger plot next time, and if it is discovered and destroyed all he has lost is the time he put into it.
But if he is successful he will reap a “pot full” of money.
Even sports is all about money these days. The report of the stock market influences spending and earnings in our society.
Politics involves massive amounts of money these days.
Storm damage is measured in dollars instead of physical loss to people or life which cannot be measured in dollars.
Money talks but the message it carries is not always good.
The message of Paul to Timothy about 2,000 years ago is more applicable to our society today than it was then.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
