Windmills have worked in Grant County

As a county commissioner in Grant County, which is host to Dominion's first operating wind project, I would like to share my perspective with citizens of Southwest Virginia, as wind farms are debated there. Wind farms bring jobs, tax revenue, and good corporate neighbors. They do not threaten coal, but instead provide a useful back-up to coal generation. Here in Grant County, we are host not only to a wind farm but also to the Mount Storm coal station, which serves Dominion's customers in Virginia. By the same token, Dominion is constructing a coal station in Wise County at the same time it is proposing wind farms for Wise and Tazewell Counties. Dominion has been a good corporate citizen in Grant County for decades. The company talks straight and delivers on what it promises.
