City sanitation workers do a good job

This is in response to a previous letter dated Sept. 20, 2012, where the letter writer called our trash service appalling and horrible. I don’t know if his girlfriend’s mother resides within our city limits or not, but I do know for a certainty that Princeton has the best city employees anywhere, from our department heads to the employees that service our community.

The gentlemen that pick up our trash go beyond the call of duty.  If a senior is unable to get their trash to the designated area they will get it for them.  They carry roach spray and spray their clothes before they enter their own homes to keep from carrying the roaches home with them.

They carry wasp spray. They have to contend with rats in some of the trash bins. Then there are the dogs that chase them, and let us not forget the danger of the needles that are not disposed of properly.  They ride the back of their trucks in extreme weather conditions and I have yet to hear one of them complain about their job.

So the next time you want to use words such as appalling and horrible, ride behind these gentlemen and I am sure you will have a greater appreciation for all they do and you will find less to complain about.

Patricia Wilson

Mayor, Princeton
