We have to do something now about health insurance reform. I have listened to all the arguments coming from Congress. I am disgusted with those who are obstructing health care reform. I have a health insurance plan through work and the costs keep rising. The deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses are through the roof. Even with insurance I can’t afford to go to the doctor, I can’t afford even a simple health problem without going broke! Yes the bill before us is complex, but only because we have allowed the health industry to create a complex system. Insurance companies are controlling our health care system including hospitals, clinics, doctors and nurses. It’s a stacked deck and people are dying. How is this a free market system if the most of the insurance industry is concentrated and controlled by few? Two insurance companies control 97 percent of the Roanoke area insurance market: Anthem and Coventry. I want my government to step in and do what is right for the consumer. We need these reforms now more than ever. I hope that by the end of this week, Congress will have voted on health care reform legislation that will make health care affordable and accessible for all.
