The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
District Governor Woody Sadler visited our club and the four clubs in our Area 10 in Virginia District 7570 — Bluefield, Tazewell, Richlands and Lebanon, to encourage members to keep involved in community service, and international service. He emphasized the importance of eradicating polio from the face of the earth, and to make people aware that this crippling disease is still a threat to our planet.
Rotarian Woody Sadler, district governor of Virginia District 7570, and his wife Lori, are great supporters of the “Polio Plus” campaign of the Rotary Foundation to eradicate polio from the face of the world.
Millions of Rotarian volunteers travel every year to different regions of the globe to give vaccination to children against polio.
Polio cases have declined by 99 percent since 1985, but the fight isn’t over. Polio is a crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease. If we don’t finish the fight right now, more than 10 million children under the age of 5 could be paralyzed by polio in the next 40 years.
