I have taken great pride in continuing to operate my family’s hardware business in Matoaka. Corvin’s Hardware has been in business for 61 years. However, the past 15 years have been extremely stressful due to flooding issues from the small creek, which becomes a raging river with the onset of only a few inches of rain. The creek flows through our town and is only several yards from my home and business. Preparing for flooding waters and experiencing flood in our home and business are difficult to deal with and keep your business operable. Therefore, it gives me an enormous amount of pleasure to write this letter in order to thank John Shott and the Shott Foundation for their generous donation of $80,000 to the town of Matoaka in order to utilize the money to have the creek dredged. Again, I appreciate the efforts of Todd Colonna and the generosity of the Shott Foundation in preserving our community.
