Veterans, where did we go wrong? For some reason things are not what they should be, but this is not something new. This retired Air Force sergeant has known for some time that things were not right when it comes to respecting veterans and what they have endured since the first shot was fired.
Now, we have some veterans living in this area who have survived World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War. Some of these may be called conflicts, but just the same, many of our veterans have paid all and others have paid the price for others to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Young women disrespecting honorable military men at Arlington cemetery, a group of people protesting military deceased soldiers at funerals across these United States, more than 60,000 of our veterans who are homeless — living on the streets, begging for bread, crossing their toes hoping to get into a mission for the night, so they can sleep on the floor and just maybe get a hot meal and a shower, but early in the morning they will be back on the mean streets and given no respect.
You might ask yourself, Mr. Hancock, why do you care? By the grace of God, it could have been me. Those of you who have met me know that I get real excited about the care and treatment of veterans, and I only wish that more and more of the American population would feel the same way. Once a year on Veterans Day, you will hear all kinds of citizens saying how much they love veterans but what happens the day after? So America, just show some respect that will go toward a change. Remember do nothing, get nothing.
