There are two kinds of people in the world — givers and takers. It’s just that simple. The thing that most takers can’t put together in their mind is that the givers get a lot more out of life than they do. Takers tend to be bitter and lonely later on in life (And it’s usually somebody else’s fault.). if they don’t learn this simple truth of life.
If you are a Christian you relate to the verse that starts with “For God so loved the world that he gave ...” Secular-minded folk should recognize the principle that Zig Ziglar put out there, “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” Mr. Ziglar just died last week but the principle is still true.
Over the last year I have noticed a few not-for-profit organizations begging the community in an almost desperate search for funds to accomplish their worthy goals or possibly going out of the business of doing good with no expectation of a “Thank you.” What a shame.
This is the season to realize that whatever your motive is, giving is tremendously better than receiving. It’s always best to do the right thing for the right reason but there are people in need, right now, that really don’t care about your reasons. They just need for you to be a giver. Hey, you may even get a tax deduction.
’Tis the season.
