I think it’s time for us to have a change in our highway department. Nobody cares about our state. You read all the time how beautiful our mountains are in West Virginia, which I agree, but our tourists are getting a surprise when they see the trash in ditch lines and dead deer laying on the sides of the road (and they have laid there for so long that they swell and burst).
I have seen trash bags fall off the sides of garbage trucks and the driver just keeps going. I have even called the company and told them that I witnessed the garbage fall off, but as usual nothing gets done.
I would like to know what has happened to the pride in West Virginia. I think that when nothing ever gets done it’s time to elect new officials and get something done.
If that doesn’t work then do it every two years until something is done.
I live on a back road and almost every morning you find new trash lying on the sides of the road. The highway department doesn’t do that much in the winter anyway so let them earn their pay and clean it up.
Put more litter control out on the roads, and when you see someone throw out litter, get the old ticket book out and do your thing.
