Did you hear that Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, and Rep. Nick Joe Rahall will not attend the Democrat National Convention in Charlotte? The highlight of the event will be a vote by the delegates in attendance to nominate Barack Obama to be their candidate for president. While it is a foregone conclusion that Obama will be the nominee, Manchin, Tomblin, and Rahall evidently don’t think that it is important to West Virginians to know whether they really support him or not.
In public, Manchin and Tomblin both speak as if they don’t support Obama, and Rahall has only given ‘tepid’ support for him. People know that politicians obfuscate when they are pressured about controversial issues. These politicians know that outright support for the president is ‘political suicide’ in West Virginia given the Obama regime’s war on coal, traditional marriage, healthcare, jobs, the economy, etc.
Even though some Republicans disagree with Mitt Romney on specific issues, most of them know that withholding their vote for him would be the same as voting for the incumbent Obama. Using the same logic, even if Joe Manchin, Earl Ray Tomblin, and Nick Joe Rahall avoid voting as delegates at the Democrats Convention, their avoidance makes them “Obama Supporters by Omission!”
