Four Pals Productions closed their three-night dinner theater production of “Driving Miss Daisy” recently to a sold-out, standing ovation audience.
Several members of the Mercer County Spay Association, myself included, were in the audience on Thursday and Friday evening. Four Pals allowed us to work as waitresses and waiters and keep all the dinner tips for our spay program. We not only did well on tips, but had a lot of fun!
Since we are a 501-C3 organization and all our members are volunteers and not compensated or reimbursed for any of our expenses, all the money will be used in our spay program; we will be able to treat quite a few animals. We are now planning a major event to be held on June 15. We will announce details soon.
This past year — Jan. 1, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2012 — we provided spay services for 1,199 dogs and cats. This has to be making a significant difference.
When I think of all the positives in the Bluefield-Princeton communities (the mountains, wildflowers, our four seasons, etc.), I still think the most beautiful thing of all is the generosity of our people. Many thanks to Four Pals Productions and all you folks who attended the affair.
