I hope this community will do whatever we can to support Bluefield Regional Medical Center. What many do not realize, is it serves not only residents of Bluefield but those who live in the wide surrounding areas.
As an example, for years my family and most of my neighbors drove from Gary and most of McDowell County when it was the old Bluefield Sanitarium, Bluefield Community Hospital and later Bluefield Regional.
I don’t think we want to lose it and have to drive to Princeton, Beckley, Charleston, Roanoke, etc. for medical care.
I admit they have some problems, as does any other business (as an example, the wait time in the Emergency Room, etc.), but I don’t think we want to lose our hospital.
