ROANOKE, Va. —
A former Franklin County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded no contest to first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his ex-wife at a gas station.
The Roanoke Times reports that Jonathan Agee entered the plea Friday in Roanoke in the Memorial Day 2011 slaying of Jennifer Agee.
The 33-year-old also pleaded no contest to charges of using a gun to commit a murder about two weeks before he had been scheduled to go on trial.
First-degree murder carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. A pre-sentence hearing has not been set.
Agee is accused of shooting a Virginia State Police officer in the leg. He is facing charges related to that shooting in Montgomery County.
