Authorities say husband found 3 W.Va. fire victims

ALUM BRIDGE —  Authorities aren’t saying much about the woman and two children found dead in a burnt Lewis County barn, except that the woman’s husband found them.

The bodies have been sent to the state medical examiner, which didn’t immediately release the causes of death.

Neither sheriff’s deputies nor fire investigators would say Tuesday whether they believe the victims died before or during the blaze behind a home in Alum Bridge.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Reed Cook says the woman was 32. Her son was 5 and her daughter was 3.

Their names have not been released.

Reed tells media outlets the fire occurred sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, when the woman’s husband phoned authorities. The barn was destroyed.
