RICHMOND, Va. —
The contract for Virginia’s only charter elementary school has been renewed.
Media outlets report that the Richmond School Board voted Monday night to renew the contract for the Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts for five years.
School system administrators had suggested renewing the contract for three years.
Patrick Henry officials say the longer term is needed to secure funding for a planned renovation of the building. The renovation will allow the school to expand enrollment from about 200 students to 350.
