WISE, Va. —
The University of Virginia has named Donna Price Henry as the eighth chancellor of the College at Wise.
U.Va. President Teresa A. Sullivan announced the appointment on Friday.
Henry succeeds David J. Prior, who died last February at age 68. He had been chancellor since 2006. Her appointment begins Jan. 18.
Henry has spent the last 16 years in a variety of positions at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla.
The 52-year-old has served as the dean of the university’s College of Arts and Sciences since 2005.
In a statement, Sullivan said Henry stood out as a leader with superior experience in areas including strategic planning, curricular development and community partnerships.
