Firefighters with the West Virginia Division of Forestry and local volunteer fire departments are continuing their efforts to control a brush fire burning between the Ada and Ingleside communities in Mercer County.
Wind and dry conditions have made fighting the fire, which was first reported Sunday afternoon, difficult, said Chief Dave Thompson of the Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
Don Kelley, an investigator with the state Division of Forestry, said local volunteer firefighters “have done an excellent job” protecting local homes and other structures.
Kelley said another brush fire is now burning in McDowell County in the Raysal and Bradshaw area, but no structures had been damaged.
