A former Princeton police officer pleaded guilty this morning in Mercer County Circuit Court before Judge William Sadler to solicitation of bribery. Christopher Winkler, 27, of Princeton had faced a sentence of 1 to 10 years.
The state agreed to probation and a suspended sentence. Winkler will be disqualified from public service and can never be a police officer again, said Assistant Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler.
A charge of attempted sexual abuse by a custodian or guardian was dismissed.
For more information on the proceeding, see Wednesday’s edition of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
