UPDATE: 5:45 p.m.

An impact that was strong enough to break a shotgun’s barrel sent at least two students and a car’s driver to a local hospital after a Mercer County school bus and a Geo Tracker collided on Glenwood Park Road.

Deputy H.L. Walters of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department said nine students were aboard the bus during the head-on collision. Two were transported to Princeton Community Hospital, but they did not appear to have major injuries, the deputy said.

The Tracker’s driver, who had not yet been identified, was also taken to the Princeton hospital. Two pistols and a shotgun were found in the vehicle. The shotgun’s barrel was broken in the crash, Walters said.

INITIAL REPORT:

First responders are now at the scene of a crash involving a Mercer County school bus and a car on Glenwood Park Road.

A Mercer County Sheriff’s Department deputy said one person was extracted from the vehicle. There were students on the school bus, and some are being treated on the scene at this time.

The West Virginia State Police, Princeton Rescue Squad, Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Green Valley Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department were all dispatched to the scene.

More details to come.
