BLUEFIELD —
A tractor trailer traveling northbound on Interstate 77 overturned in Mercer County this morning.
According to Chief David Thompson of the Green Valley Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department, the tanker trucker was carrying liquid plastics. It jacknifed near mile marker 1.
The truck driver was transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center by the Bluefield Rescue Squad, but the extent of his injuries was unknown Tuesday afternoon, according to Trooper W.H. File of the Princeton Detachment, West Virginia State Police.
“The tanker truck was registered out of Illinois and was traveling north on I-77,” File said. “The driver lost control due to wintry conditions. The truck flipped over with the tractor pointing southbound on the shoulder of the northbound lanes.”
