CART brings to the stage “Route 66”, Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at 7 p.m., at Richlands Middle School Auditorium in Richlands. The show begins in Chicago and travels along the famed Main Street of America to the coast of California. A large car radio delivers the characters to each new destination along their journey, with DJs and actual vintage radio ads building excitement along the way.
In the beginning they hear a radio DJ welcome them to Chicago, and four service station attendants burst into “The Texaco Star Theme.” Each actor introduces themselves to the audience in a string of hits. In St. Louis, two men sing about “The Mother Road”; two others remember good times in their hometown in “Used to be” and a trucker has more then the road on his mind in “Girl on the Billboard.”
The entire trip consists of different towns and cities, each with songs and stories. At the end of their trip, audience members will enjoy a final tribute to California’s carefree attitude.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults and $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at TruPoint Bank-Claypool Hill, Richlands Area Chamber of Commerce, Van’s on Main Street in Tazewell.
For infor, call (276) 963-3385 or order tickets online at CART@roadrunner.com. Group rates of 10 or more are available.
