BC Lady Rams rout Newport News; men drop to 6-6

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Bluefield College Lady Rams continue to roll, improving to 10-3 with an 84-52 rout of Newport News Apprentice in the Hill City Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Janee Simmons led Bluefield with 19 points and nine rebounds. Ashley White dished out six assists for the Rams, which connected on 52 percent of their field goal attempts in the second half to outscore the Lady Builders 45-25 after the break.

Bluefield, which forced 26 turnovers, will play the University of Virginia-Lynchburg today at 4 p.m.

Men's game: Va.-Lynchburg 86, Bluefield 79

The Bluefield College men dropped to 6-6 with a second loss of the season to UVa-Lynchburg. No other information was available on the game.

Bluefield also lost 80-74 to open the season against the same team.

The Rams will visit Division I North Carolina-Asheville for an exhibition on Dec. 30, and will host Virginia-Wise on Jan. 3.
