Tunstalle scores 35 for Lions, nets game-winner

Shepherd women rally past CU

SHEPHERDSTOWN — Damien Tunstalle capped for a 35-point game with a 3-pointer with just six seconds left, leading Concord to a 78-77 West Virginia Conference win over Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.

Tunstalle, whose nine 3-pointers were the second most by a player in the league this season, was 9 for 13 from long range.

He also had a team-high six rebounds and steals.  

The senior scored 13 of Concord’s final 19 points.

Tunstalle’s game-winning shot was set up by a steal from freshman Cam Shannon with 15 seconds left to play. Shannon finished with 14 points, while Nick Moyer added 11.

Mike Boyd dished out five assists.

Shepherd (13-9, 10-8) was paced by Chad Moore with 20 points and 19 from Brantley Osborne.

Concord (12-9, 8-9) will host Davis & Elkins on Monday at the Carter Center.

Women: Shepherd 81, Concord 74

SHEPHERDSTOWN — Rachel Johnson scored 17 points to help Shepherd rally from an eight-point deficit to defeat the Lady Lions.

Concord (6-17, 5-12) was paced by Jacqueline Kestner with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Amanda Smith added 16 points, Stephanie Wagner tallied 15, and Sammi Webster had 12 points and nine boards. Katy Somerville and Tanisha Williams added nine points each.

Concord will host Davis & Elkins on Monday.
