Mustangs stampede Herd

HUNTINGTON — Marshall lost for the sixth time in eight games in 2013, dropping a 68-57 decision to Larry Brown and Southern Methodist in a Conference USA affair on Wednesday night at the Cam Henderson Center.

D.J. Scarver and Dennis Pittman scored 15 points each for Marshall, which dropped to 9-12 and 2-4 in the league. DeAndre Kane added 13 points and five assists, and Dennis Tinnon contributed eight points and 17 rebounds.

Jalen Jones led the Mustangs with 19 points, while Ryan Manuel tallied 17.

The Thundering Herd was 7 for 28 from 3-point range, while the Mustangs attempted just six, making  three.

Marshall will host Central Florida on Saturday.
