Bluefield State swept at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY — Sophomore Samuel Ouedraogo grabbed an ARSC Arena record-setting 19 rebounds but wasn’t enough to help the Bluefield State men’s basketball team as they were defeated 111-72 by nationally-ranked no. 4 West Liberty University Monday night.

Treon Claiborne and Detterance Norwood led the Big Blues (2-17, 2-13 WVIAC) with 18 points apiece. Norwood came off the bench and scored his 18 in only 13 minutes of action.

The Hilltoppers (18-1, 12-1) with the No. 1 offense in the country featured a balanced offensive attack as they had five players record double-digit points led by Alex Falk with 16 points. Bubba Goodwin scored 14 while CJ Hester, Cedric Harris and Nick Brown contributed 12 points apiece.

The Big Blues return to action Saturday night when they travel to Institute to face conference rival West Virginia State.
