London adds 4 to coaching staff

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia coach Mike London hired four new assistants Thursday, three with long ties to the program.

London says Tom O’Brien will be his associate head coach for offense and coach tight ends, Jon Tenuta will be associate head coach for defense and defensive coordinator, Jeff Banks will coach special teams and running backs and Marques Hagans will coach wide receivers.

O’Brien was an assistant at Virginia for 15 years before becoming a head coach. He was fired by North Carolina State on Nov. 25. His career record is 115-80.

Tenuta is a Virginia graduate with 32 years of coaching experience, most of it as a defensive coordinator.

Banks has coached 12 seasons at the college level, the last nine at UTEP. Hagans was a graduate assistant the last two seasons.
