LAS VEGAS —
Battling from behind, the Virginia Tech Hokies bounced back from a 65-60 deficit in overtime to defeat Bradley 66-65 on Saturday night in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena.
Erick Green scored the last five points in the final 26 seconds as the Hokies (9-2) went on their decisive 6-0 run. Green finished with 31 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Leading Bradley (8-3) was Dyricus Simms-Edwards, who led the Braves with 15 points and seven boards. The Braves led 35-25 at halftime.
The Hokies had a substantial rebounding advantage, 40 to 36, but Bradley stole the ball 12 times and Virginia Tech wound up with 24 turnovers.
Two of those turnovers, in the final minute of regulation, denied Virginia Tech a couple of chances at the game winning shot. When the last opportunity came Green’s way with three seconds on the clock, his jumper was unsuccessful.
Virginia Tech advanced to tonight’s championship game at 11:30 p.m. Eastern time against Colorado State.
