Concord expanded its lead to five strokes Monday on the second day of the WVIAC Championship golf tournament on the Cobb Course at Glade Springs.
Four Mountain Lions are in the top 10, helping the squad remain in first place with a 597 total after 36 holes of the three-day event. On a windy Monday, the majority of the field registered higher second-round scores than on Sunday.
Charleston is in second place with a 602, Davis & Elkins is third at 614, and defending conference champion Bluefield State remains in fourth place at 620.
In the individual low-score competition, Charleston’s John Carbone has carded a 142 and opened a four-shot advantage over CU’s Stefan Labuschagne, who has recorded a 146.
The Big Blues’ Nick Dent is tied for third with a two-day tally of 148. He is tied with West Virginia Wesleyan’s Logan Kaptis.
Concord golfers Nathaniel Begley (fifth), Evan Muscari (tied for eighth) and Sebastian Starud (tied for 10th) join Labuschagne in the event’s top 10.
The teams are scheduled to complete the three-day tournament today.
