WVIAC recognizes Scholar-Athletes

PRINCETON — Two athletes each from Concord and Bluefield State were honored by the West Virginia Conference on Tuesday as winners of the College Foundation of West Virginia Senior Scholar-Athlete awards.

Kelly Pawlowski, who plays basketball and runs cross country, of Princeton and Canadian Jordan Draeger, who is a member of the baseball team, were the two scholar-athletes from Bluefield State while Beckley’s Katelyn Armentrout, who plays soccer) and Cody Vinson, who plays tennis, from Logan were Concord’s winners.

All 15 league member institutions honor a male and female student-athlete that has demonstrated proficiency in the classroom and as an athlete. All award winners must compile at least a 3.3 grade point average.

Each honoree will be recognized during the March 2 evening session of the WVIAC Basketball Tournament in Charleston.
