CU's Callaway named to All-Academic team

ATHENS — Chelsea Callaway of Concord University has earned a spot on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s All-Academic Team for NCAA Division II for the second time.

A three-time first-team all-conference runner, she is majoring in health and physical education, with a minor in health promotion.

“She’s been a great athlete and student for us and will continue to do so,” Coach Mike Cox said in a release from the school.

Callaway finished ninth in the WVIAC Championships, held last October at Pipestem State Park.  She earned a spot on the All-WVIAC First Team for the third time in as many seasons, and next year will attempt to become the first Concord runner to make the First Team four times.

Callaway finished 45th out of 169 runners at the 25-team NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional meet last November in Slippery Rock, PA.
