Rams split twinbill with OSU-Lima

BLUEFIELD — Justin Wike, Justin Lykins and Sean Williams combined to allow just two hits, striking out 11 and walking just one to lead Bluefield College to a 3-2 win over Ohio State-Lima in the nightcap of a doubleheader on a cold Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field.

Bluefield, which defeated the Barons 7-6, on Monday, won two of three from OSU-Lima, dropping the opener 7-2.

Trevor Martin had two of Bluefield’s six hits in the win, and also joined Kahlin Villines with RBIs. Martin also scored a run.

Wike allowed two hits in five innings, striking out six. Williams got the save in the seventh by striking out three batters to end the game.

Five Barons had two hits each in the opener, with OSU-Lima out-hitting the Rams 13-5. Ryan Kortokrax had two hits, including a triple and scored three runs. Brandon Scott earned the win on the mound.

Bluefield was led by Villines, who had a triple, single, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Anthony Garza was tagged with the loss.

Bluefield (9-13) will visit St. Catharines, Ky. for three games beginning on Friday.



Softball

Bluefield 2,5;

Rio Grande 8, 4

RIO GRANDE, OHIO — Bluefield College won its first Mid-South Conference softball game with a 5-4 win over Rio Grande in the second game of a doubleheader.

Bluefield collected 10 hits, led by Jessica Dutka, Kourtney McGrady and Megan Meismer. Dutka also scored three runs.

Meismer picked up the win the circle, while Aline Uehara added the save.

Bluefield lost the opener 8-2 despite two hits by McGrady and two RBIs from Dutka. Uehara took the loss.

Bluefield improved to 5-11 and 1-3 in the MSC.
