HUNTINGTON —
Usually, a quick turnaround is a good way for a team to get over an embarrassing performance. In Marshall’s case, that might not be so.
Maybe, if the next opponent was a junior college, not the team that has owned your conference.
Coming off Wednesday’s 102-46 loss at Southern Miss, Marshall will visit Memphis today for a 2 p.m. Eastern tip-off.
The game can be seen live on ROOT Sports.
The Herd’s (9-10, 2-2) loss to the Golden Eagles was its worst in eight seasons as a member of Conference USA.
They committed 31 turnovers in the game.
The Tigers (15-3, 4-0) have won nine straight games. The perennial league champs have won 156 games at home since the 2004-05 season, the most in the nation.
Memphis is led by Joe Jackson's 13.8 points per game. Adonis Thomas (10.4) and Geron Johnson (10.2) also average double figure points.
The Tigers lead the conference and rank 11th in the country in blocked shots (6.11).
Junior forward Elijah Pittman leads Marshall with 14.8 points per game. Junior guard DeAndre Kane is just behind him with 14.5 points and is averaging a conference-best 7.3 assists per game.
Memphis leads the overall series 11-2, including an 83-57 victory in the league championship game in March that derailed the Herd’s run toward an NCAA Tournament berth.
